Since 1996, shortly after joining Euricom, Curti Srl has been investing more and more in clean energy to the point of building a 4.5MW biomass thermal power plant at its Valle Lomellina plant and using only rice chaffs gained from paddy rice production.
RICE ON THE BALANCE SHEET
CO2 = ZERO
Today Curtiriso is the first rice in Europe coming from a CO2=ZERO balance process, where greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption are rewarded by the benefit gained through to the production of energy from renewable sources and the remaining part through the purchase of certified carbon credits thanks to the collaboration with Rete Clima. Thanks to ISO 14001 certifications and especially the GHG Protocol, Curtiriso has long implemented and certified a greenhouse gas reporting system, achieving goals of commitment, transparency and innovation that can now be found on the new packages that include the addition of the “CO2=ZERO” trademark. A further step toward total transparency will be the addition on the packages of a code that will allow the consumer to check the carbon footprint, which is the amount of CO2 emission assignable to each individual product.
